About Scriptory
One studio, from the first draft to the last call sheet.
Scriptory is a screenwriting studio and pre-production platform for writers, independent filmmakers, showrunners and production teams — built and billed in India, used in a browser anywhere.
What we build
The tools a script passes through on its way to the screen.
Screenplay editorEvery industry element a keystroke away, character autocomplete, automatic (CONT’D) and real pagination.
Real-time co-writingA live cursor for every writer in the draft, and locked pages and scene numbers when it goes to production.
BreakdownCast, props, costumes, vehicles, stunts and effects tagged on the page and grouped by department and scene.
ProductionLocation-grouped shooting schedules, day-out-of-days, one-liners, a budget top sheet and per-day call sheets.
Indian languagesUnicode screenplays in Hindi, Marathi and other scripts — the software doesn’t assume English.
Craft analysisA computed script report — names spelled two ways, headings missing a time, long speeches — for the rewrite.
What we hold to
I.Your script is yoursPrivate by default — visible only to you and the people you add — and never used to train a model.
II.No lock-inFountain, Word, PDF and plain text out on every plan, Final Draft on Pro — and .fdx, Fountain, Word, PDF and text back in.
III.Free to startA whole screenplay costs nothing. Professional tools shouldn’t cost a month’s rent.
IV.Every languageStories aren’t only told in English, and the software shouldn’t assume they are.
Who's building it
Built next to a classroom.
Scriptory is made by the same team that runs the Scriptory Academy's live, instructor-led classes, in India and priced in rupees. The two are wired together: a course lesson can open a writing assignment straight in the editor, and the instructor reads and comments on it without ever being able to edit it.
